چکیده

A function and its first two derivatives are estimated by convolutions with well-chosen non-differentiable kernels. The convolutions are in turn approximated by Newton–Cotes integration techniques with the aid of a polynomial interpolation based on an arbitrary finite set of points. Precise numerical results are obtained with far fewer points than that in classic SPH, and error bounds are derived. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

A Meshfree Method for Incompressible Fluid Dynamics Problems

We show that meshfree variational methods may be utilized for solution of incompressible fluid dynamics problems using the R-function method (RFM). The proposed approach constructs an approximate solution that satisfies all prescribed boundary conditions exactly using approximate distance fields for portions of the boundary, transfinite interpolation, and computations on a non-conforming spatia...

Parallel and Meshfree: new frontiers of CFD

For the best part of 50 years, advances in algorithms and the increasing computing power have made computational fluid dynamics, CFD, a mature discipline. Which are some remaining frontiers of the discipline? It is common knowledge that one of the challenges in fluid simulation continues to be the need to straddle many scales. New computational methods still need to be developed that are able t...

Time Marching Kernel Approximated PDE Solutions for Meshfree Computational Fluid Dynamics

This paper will address the problem of time marching function approximated solutions inherent in emerging meshfree Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) solution techniques. The numerical solutions of partial differential equations (PDEs) of CFD has been dominated by either finite difference methods (FDM), finite element methods (FEM), and finite volume methods (FVM). These methods can be derived ...

Optimization strategies for parallel CPU and GPU implementations of a meshfree particle method

Much of the current focus in high performance computing (HPC) for computational fluid dynamics (CFD) deals with grid based methods. However, parallel implementations for new meshfree particle methods such as Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) are less studied. In this work, we present optimizations for both central processing unit (CPU) and graphics processing unit (GPU) of a SPH method. The...

Kernel Techniques: From Machine Learning to Meshless Methods

Kernels are valuable tools in various fields of Numerical Analysis, including approximation, interpolation, meshless methods for solving partial differential equations, neural networks, and Machine Learning. This contribution explains why and how kernels are applied in these disciplines. It uncovers the links between them, as far as they are related to kernel techniques. It addresses non-expert...
